Presentation
This team includes psychologists and linguists. While the team’s focus is on cognitive psychology, the linguists provide specific guidance in two areas: co-occurrence semantics and the cognitive architecture of grammar.
The team focuses its research on language as a cognitive function: its structures and processes, its functioning, and its acquisition. While the research typically focuses on written production, interaction with generative linguists aims in particular to distinguish between what is strictly grammatical in the writing process (i.e., processes that are also at work in oral production) and what is the result of other processes (visual memory, grapheme-phoneme link, etc.).
The various projects envisaged fall within the field of cognitive science, focusing on the relationships between language and cognition, with scientific computing and modeling playing an important role in the implementation of these projects. The team’s projects can be summarized in the following table.
