Presentation

The team’s research focuses on the enunciative and pragmatic approach to language facts, with an emphasis on studies of corpora relating to different forms of discourse (literary/non-literary), different languages (French, Russian, Ancient Greek), and different periods (from Old French to contemporary French).

The team’s work is in line with the laboratory’s approach of combining linguistic theory and empirical research, and contributes to the scientific output of a methodology that combines the analysis of linguistic facts with a theoretical conception of contexts of use.

The team’s approach is unique in that it invites its members to participate in a joint research project every four years. During previous four-year periods, the team has produced numerous works on figures of speech in context, exclamation and interrogation, and the pragmatics of definition.

Currently, while continuing their individual work, which is what makes them unique, the team members are participating in a joint project on word order in the light of pragmatics.
